Sensex rally of 1,233 points on the BSE, driven by strong Reliance Industries earnings, featuring the Bombay Stock Exchange building, a rising stock-market graph and positive market indicators.

India’s stock market recorded a significant rally on Monday, November 2, 2026, as benchmark indices advanced following strong corporate earnings and improving investor sentiment. The BSE Sensex climbed 1,233.25 points, or 1.66%, to close at 75,692.78. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty 50 gained 387.70 points, or 1.68%, finishing at 23,440.80. Strong buying in Reliance Industries emerged as the biggest contributor to the day’s performance. Additionally, declining crude oil prices and renewed foreign investor interest supported the market. Several other sectors also recorded gains, indicating wider participation beyond heavyweight companies. The session marked the third consecutive day of gains for India’s benchmark indices.

Sensex Rally Pushes Indian Benchmark Indices Higher

The Indian equity market began the week on a positive note, with both major benchmark indices recording substantial gains. The Sensex climbed more than 1,200 points during the session and finished at its highest level since September 7. Similarly, the Nifty crossed the 23,400 mark, reflecting improved buying interest across several market segments. Both indices gained approximately 1.7% during the trading session. Moreover, the rally extended beyond large-cap companies, as mid-cap and small-cap stocks also finished higher.

The Nifty Midcap 100 advanced approximately 1.19%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 gained around 0.71%. Thirteen of the 16 major sectoral indices ended in positive territory. Energy, metals, automobiles and oil-related stocks attracted considerable buying interest. However, information technology and pharmaceutical shares experienced some weakness. According to market reporting, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel and other heavyweight stocks contributed significantly to the benchmark gains. The broader market movement indicated improving sentiment rather than an isolated rise in one company’s share price.

Reliance Industries Earnings Become the Main Market Catalyst

Reliance Industries emerged as the central driver of Monday’s market rally after announcing its financial results for the July-September quarter of FY27. The company reported consolidated revenue of ₹3,62,268 crore, representing a 27.8% increase compared with the corresponding quarter last year. Its consolidated profit, including its share of profits from associates and joint ventures, reached ₹29,550 crore, registering 33.8% annual growth. Furthermore, its quarterly EBITDA increased 23.9% to ₹62,409 crore.

The company’s oil-to-chemicals business delivered a particularly strong performance, supported by improved refining margins and petrochemical operations. Its digital services business also recorded growth during the quarter. Following the announcement, Reliance shares surged 11.64% to close at approximately ₹1,299 on the BSE. This marked the company’s strongest single-day gain since April 2020. The sharp increase contributed approximately 762 points to the Sensex’s overall advance. Consequently, Reliance’s performance became one of the most important factors behind the day’s market movement. The company’s results also attracted attention because of its considerable influence on India’s major stock market indices.

Falling Crude Oil Prices Offer Relief to Indian Markets

Another important factor supporting the Sensex rally was the decline in international crude oil prices. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, fell towards $109 per barrel on Monday after reaching approximately $118 during the previous week. The decline followed renewed diplomatic discussions involving Iranian and Qatari officials, raising hopes of progress towards easing tensions in West Asia. This development attracted attention from Indian investors because the country depends heavily on imported crude oil. When international petroleum prices increase, India’s import expenditure can rise significantly.

Consequently, expensive oil can put pressure on the current account deficit, inflation and the domestic currency. Lower prices can help reduce some of these economic pressures. Additionally, businesses dependent on transportation and energy may benefit from reduced input costs. Oil and gas stocks consequently attracted considerable investor interest during the session. The Nifty Oil and Gas index advanced approximately 5.95%, becoming one of the strongest sectoral performers. However, crude oil prices remain sensitive to geopolitical developments. Therefore, investors continued monitoring international negotiations and possible changes in global energy supplies.

Foreign Investor Buying and Domestic Indicators Support Sentiment

Improving foreign investor activity and encouraging domestic economic indicators provided further support to Indian equities. Foreign institutional investors purchased approximately ₹3,598.54 crore worth of Indian shares on Friday, October 30, according to exchange data. This marked their sixth buying session within the preceding ten trading sessions. The development attracted attention after substantial foreign selling had affected Indian equities earlier in 2026. Meanwhile, October’s gross Goods and Services Tax collections reached approximately ₹2.31 lakh crore, reflecting a 23% increase compared with the previous year.

India’s automobile industry also reported encouraging festive-season sales, with several manufacturers recording strong October performances. These developments strengthened expectations surrounding domestic consumption and economic activity. Additionally, investors monitored reports about possible changes to long-term capital gains taxation. However, these discussions concerned reported recommendations and expectations, not an announced government decision. Market participants also considered global developments, including movements in US bond yields and technology stocks. Together, these factors contributed to the improved market environment, although their influence may change as new economic information emerges.

The Wise Take

The November 2 trading session highlighted the influence of corporate earnings on India’s stock market. Reliance Industries played a major role, while declining crude oil prices and improving investor activity provided additional support. Furthermore, gains across multiple sectors indicated broader participation in the day’s rally.

However, one strong session does not establish a sustained market recovery. Investors will continue monitoring upcoming earnings announcements, foreign fund movements, energy prices and international developments. The direction of these factors will help determine whether the positive momentum continues. For now, the Sensex rally represents a significant development for domestic equities and highlights the importance of corporate performance in shaping market sentiment.
